Congrats Sim Bhullar

22 03 2013

Congratulations to Sim Bhullar, Indian-Canadian basketball star, on his NCAA debut. He stands at 7’5″ and weighs in at 355lbs.

His first season on the team, Bhullar averaged 15 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4 blocked shots in the semifinals and finals of the WAC tournament last week – leading his team to a second straight title and earning the Aggies an opening-round NCAA tournament matchup with fourth-seeded Saint Louis on Thursday.

On Thursday March 21, 2013, in the national spotlight, Bhullar posted 4 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 27 minutes in a New Mexico St loss. He will likely be back at it again next year.

During the game, the announcers did a brief story on his 7’3″, 16yr old brother Tanveer and his visit and warm reception at New Mexico St. Will he be following in Sim’s footsteps and attending New Mexico St as well?

  • Streaming Live from Space

    17 10 2012

When Felix Baumgartner, an Austrian skydiver, jumped off a balloon from the edge of space on October 14, 2012, he set the world record for the highest free fall jump in history and broke the speed of sound.  Skydiving from 24 miles up – at the edge of space – he was the fastest person moving outside of a space craft ever – reaching an estimated speed of 834 mph.

The mission also pushed perceived boundaries in other industries as Red Bull broke the traditional barriers of online streaming, exposure, sponsorship, and social media. [Read article on Forbes]

Marketing gurus were impressed by the mission – noting that jump is in line with Red Bull’s slogan (“Red Bull gives you wings”) and also by the international brand exposure gained by the fact that every photo and video of the event features the Red Bull logo and name.

Talking Sports and Fitness with John F Kennedy

    8 10 2012

When it came to encouraging physical fitness, few did more to get Americans off the couch than John F. Kennedy. Now, as the nation staggers under an epidemic of obesity four decades after his assassination, the president’s call to active lifestyles has been renewed

    JFK’s Sports Highlights

At Harvard – JFK was a receiver on Coach Henry Lamar’s Freshman football squad. In his 1937 post-season report, the coach wrote: “The most adept pass catcher was John Kennedy, but his lack of weight was a drawback,”

His best sport was swimming. At the November time-trials his backstroke earned him a place on what was the greatest Freshman team in Harvard history

With his brother Joe, he won the intercollegiate sailing title

JFK once challenged the US Marines to walk 50 miles in 20 hours

Kennedy was the most accomplished of presidential golfers. He played regularly at the Hyannis Golf Club and Palm Beach Golf Club with his father, brothers and friends, and as a senator and president he favored the Burning Tree Club and Chevy Chase Clubs in Maryland
